This has been a very spiritual weekend for me. It started on Friday night at a youth leader retreat. I was having some large doubts about a lot of areas in my christian journey. The leader of the spiritual formation time had each leader write down areas of our lives that were sinful and needed to be turned over to God. In that time when it was just me and God my eyes were opened about areas those areas that were not right. After we wrote down these areas we put the pieces of paper in a pot and set them on fire. As I was there smelling the smoke from the burning paper I thought about how God is a cleansing fire. After the formation time when everyone was sitting around talking I needed to go off and get right with my Lord.
Then Sunday morning my church had communion. Communion has always been a very spiritual time for me when I remember Jesus and his sacrifice for me. This time was diffrent since I had the privilege of serving communion as a deacon. It was a very humbling time for me. In looking back over the weekend i realized that I could not serve Sunday without the cleansing of Friday night.
